MTV Video Music Awards: Nominees

Moonman
Despite not having a strong connection to music television anymore, or music for that matter, MTV still holds a yearly awards ceremony, The Video Music Awards. While there is still no specific award to electronic music and all the sub genres, some artists associated within the genre(s) have received nominations. This morning MTV announced the nominees, you can cross reference the official list on the MTV Website.

Zedd receives a nomination in the “Artist to Watch” category, most likely in relation to his platinum selling single ‘Clarity’.

On the technical side of things, A-Trak & Tommy Trash have been nominated for “Best Cinematography” for the ‘Tuna Melt‘ video. Which if you haven’t seen, definitely make sure to watch. Calvin Harris’s track featuring vocalist Florence Welch, ‘Sweet Nothing‘, is up for “Best Editing“. Harris received a second nomination in the “Best Collaboration” category for,”I Need Your Love” featuring Ellie Goulding. The most likely chance of seeing a dance music artist hoist the “coveted” moonman will be in the “Best Visual Effects” category. Where Skrillex, Flying Lotus, and Duck Sauce have all been nominated.
