Tommy Trash – Monkey In Love (Original Mix) [Preview]

Maintaining a relatively quiet start to the first half of 2013, the legendary Australian master, Tommy Trash, has stormed back into production, armed to the teeth with grit and filth amidst his astounding Electro basslines. Trash is responsible for many iconic releases, including his collaboration with Sebastian Ingrosso on Reload and his collaboration with A-Trak on Tuna Melt. While only releasing one collaboration, two remixes and a re-edit in 2013, he teams up with label boss Steve Angello and the highly respected Size label to bring forth his chaotic new single, Monkey In Love. Smatterings of this track were heard in his sets near the end of 2012, and it has been universally acclaimed by many of the trendsetters of Progressive House today, including Afrojack, Hardwell, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Dada Life and more. Judging by his latest remixes to both Sub Focus‘s Endorphins and Destroid‘s Higher, his sound is slowly evolving into a darker, sinister Electro style which breathes some much needed fresh air in a very saturated Big Room scene.

Monkey In Love is a particularly great track just because of the clear risk taking that occurs. Trash is no stranger to going against the grain, as both his brilliant innovations and bold musical statements have catapulted his skills into a league of their own. Already in the beginning, we hear many usual sounds, including a fidgetty repeated voice and warping, reverbed synths among the the dark and twisted Dubstep-esque wubs that barges through the textures. The breakdown brings forth broad, classic Electro synthesizers with a reversed, playful sound that brings some movement throughout the thick chordal layout. As the build up occurs, superb drum stabs interlock with a dangerous cocktail of rising waves and agitated hi-hats. What follows is a nasty and particularly venomous bassline comes out of nowhere, thrashing the listener around as its brutal synth sound bellows out to all. This drop is highly unusual in its own regard and we shouldn’t expect nothing less from Tommy. Whenever it seems as though his sound might be getting old (which is a real, heavy problem for all producers of any genre), he artistically switches it up to something new and unique, following his own rules instead of the standard industry template.

Tommy Trash‘s upcoming single, Monkey In Love, will be out on July 22nd on Size Records, so make sure you mark down to purchase this earthquaking release on Beatport on your calenders.
