Although their time together has ended, Swedish House Mafia is not dead. At the end of June, Billboard asked their readers to vote for their Mid-Year Music Awards. The results are in- and Taylor Swift dominated the categories- but Swedish House Mafia did pull out one victory with “Best Festival Performance”. Their performance at Ultra Music Festival this past year garnered thirty-five percent of the vote, beating Paul McCartney at Bonnaroo and Kanye West at Governor’s Ball. Congratulations to the trio for their victory, but this clearly was a popularity contest. Their final set was the most generic demonstration of March’s Beatport Top 10, not to mention the transition from “Greyhound” into “Wakanda“, which was painful to listen to. Nevertheless, their show still left the Ultra participants and the chair ravers at home with goosebumps as seen by the poll.
