Pretty Lights Releases Brilliant New Album: A Color Map of the Sun, Announces Fall Tour

How does one go about approaching a Pretty Lights album? Derek Vincent Smith’s music is like none other, it requires you to free yourself of your surroundings and delve into the music. The musical immersion provided by Pretty Lights’ music is unparalleled. Layers upon layers of notes, sounds and instruments flow into one and create a musical experience unlike any other.

His latest work, A Color Map of the Sun, is everything we have come to expect from Pretty Lights. The album is just purely genius. Bass grooves meld seamlessly with lead horns which cascade into brilliantly distorted vocals and soft guitars. In listening, you can tell that the tracks are strategically placed to take you on a musical journey.

For those of you that don’t know, Pretty Lights releases all his music for free on his site. When downloading, there is an area in which you can donate, and I encourage you to do so as it costs a lot of money and time to create an album.
