W&W to Perform Following Philadelphia Phillies Game

WW_live-YourEDM

In an interesting marketing move, Major League Baseball team the Philadelphia Phillies have announced that rising stars W&W will perform following their home game on July 5th.  Everyone admitted to the game will be allowed to stay for a 90 minute DJ set from the duo, which is sure to attract a different crowd than the average baseball game.  The team’s Director of Marketing and Special Projects, Michael Harris talked about the commonalities between EDM listeners and MLB fans, saying: ““We know it’s a little unusual, but two of the most passionate fan bases out there are dance music and sports. So [we thought], let’s try to blend them together for a unique event. The macro point of this is to create something for our fans to do after the game is over. The ballpark really is a destination spot and a fun place to hang out.”  Make of it what you will, but this is definitely a sign of Dance music’s predominance in contemporary society.  Personally I never thought that professional sports, baseball especially, would be receptive to EDM and it’s culture, but perhaps this is just the beginning.  Let’s just wait for Skrillex’s halftime show during next year’s Superbowl…
