This past weekend the inaugural EDC Chicago took place, and it seemed to be a massive success. However, reports have surfaced that there were over 500 calls to the nearby 911 center complaining about EDC Chicago. “I don’t know if we had an explosion in town that you’d have 500 calls,” said Joliet Mayor, Tim Baldermann. Luckily, city officials were quite sympathetic with Electric Daisy Carnival and Insomniac. One city manager from Joliet who also attended the festival Saturday night said:
The genre of music is loud…It’s electric dance music that is nonstop. The deejays keep the music going. It’s high volume. People dance the night away…It was a peaceful and fun-loving crowd.
It seems that even with the noise complaints EDC Chicago will be more than welcome to return in 2013. A release from the City of Joliet stated:
…(If) an encore is in the future, then city officials will work with the promoter in developing a plan to address the noise issue.

EDC needs to stop expanding so damn much. It’s starting to degrade the name as a whole. Ultra is in ONE place in America, yet it is extremely highly regarded despite it not being anywhere near as good as EDCLV. There should only be two EDC’s per year, a west coast version (EDC Vegas) and an east coast version (EDCNY or other). EDC Orlando is a joke, EDC Chicago is a joke.
its all about the money brotha but I now what you mean. Im from LA and I use to attend them all out here. When I first heard they were expanding I was like ok. But now there’s one to many…Then they brought Tomorrowland from the UK. To many parties to attend..
Vegas EDC= Expensive. Miami Ultra=Expensive. People cant all afford to go to these places to enjoy those events, so it is a GREAT idea to spread them out and give more people the chance to experience a taste of what EDC is all about. Now for those that can afford the huge events, Enjoy, but for the rest of us, Thank you for bringing us the experience to Chicago. I promise no one will ever forget!
Ultra takes place in Miami, Korea, Croatia and Ibiza.. Edc expanded helps those less fortunate that cannot afford a trip to Vegas to still attend edc I’m so thankful they expand every year! All insomniacs festivals are put on way better than any other festival.
Houston Cleaver, your argument has an invalid foundation. It’s as if you feel that Insomniac is placing quantity OVER quality…which isn’t the case. I went to EDC Chicago – if the experience provided by this festival is a joke to you (though I doubt you attended) then you don’t know what these festivals are truly about, my friend.

Houston is a fucking joke. You obviously dont belong at EDC because its all about co-exsiting and having fun no matter where it is and as along as DJs want to pLay they will play and people will come and live life free and fun for a weekend.
