It has now been confirmed that Daft Punk will be remixing themselves and their full feature album Random Access Memories. In a recent interview with BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong, Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo discussed their desire to, for the very first time, remix their own work. The french duo stated:
“We’re working on some mixes ourselves,” Bangalter answered. “So yes, there will probably be Daft Punk mixes of Daft Punk. Usually we never mix ourselves, that’s something we feel we’re interested in doing this time.”
Since the interview, Daft Punk have further unveiled that the first song to be receiving the remix treatment will be the sure to be summer anthem “Get Lucky”. The best part? The remix is slated to be released by the end of June. It’ll be interesting to see and hear what comes of it and whether Daft Punk will invite other producers to remix their original work, like they did for the Tron Soundtrack. Thomas Bangalter in the Daft Punk MixMag feature:
“The first track we’re remixing is ‘Get Lucky‘. That will be out by the end of June.”
