I’m not surprised that Datsik, head of Firepower Records, released the new Carvar & Clock EP on his own label, as he continues to add to the arsenal of massive releases the label has been churning out this year. Carvar & Clock, the duo consisting of Dominic Medina and Dustin Lenz, have only been around for a couple months now, but it’s only a matter of time before they are playing side to side with some of the biggest names in bass music.
Mistkatonik, the leading track and trophy of the EP, is a trap infused dubstep masterpiece that had me instantly hooked. I’ve never heard such dirty bass wobbles and 808 snares come together into such perfect madness, and was just as impressed with their second original of the EP, “SYZYGY”. And quickly returning to Firepower Records after his Caffeine EP release, Must Die! delivers a nasty remix of “Miskatonik”. Joe Ford finished out the EP strong with his techy, energetic take on the track. I already can’t wait to hear what’s coming next from Carvar & Clock, and as always you can buy the Miskatonik EP on Beatport or Itunes.
