Well, Skrillex has been a very busy man these days and it seems while working on one of these numerous projects he has inspired the pop sensation, Selena Gomez. Both worked on Spring Breakers and that is where Gomez found inspiration:
I love to dance and I love to make people dance. It’s the best feeling. Doing ’Spring Breakers’ was really fun, because Skrillex and Cliff Martinez did the soundtrack, and [Skrillex] kind of inspired me with a baby dubstep, because I have a few songs that have that.
Clearly, Selena missed the point…I mean, “baby dubstep”? Really? Anyhow, it is just fascinating to see yet another “artist” try to adapt electronic music to the pop world.
Dubstep is in the pop spectrum now. It hasn’t been an underground genre since, about the time Big Apple records closed down in Croydon. Let Selena Gomez a crappy pop single, It’s one step closer to killing the beast once and for all.
so we can start making the real shit again?
So we can all make something new.
theres new stuff comin out now, just brings a tear to my eye when people say its dead, its true tho
Please don’t…. I can not wait for the EDM bandwagon to go away so we can get our great music back.
Music is Music.
Or something else is gonna come from this, something really really awful.
We will be hearing Dubstep on the radio all day instead of the Pitbull house. oh my
It’s already happening. I’m listening to SBTRKT’s – Ready set Loop. This kind of UK bass music has the same excitement that the old dubstep stuff gave me 5 – 6 years ago.
Simple point.. Still can’t wait for the bandwagon to roll down a hill and smash into a huge rock. Just how I feel 🙂

More like, Popstep.

I really hate how everyone thinks that when an underground genre goes popular it means its dying. It’s obviously flourishing if its making it’s way into others genres. A genre doesn’t have to be underground to be cool. Get over it, everyone loves dubstep. Good genres go popular then inspires other artists, that is how the music industry works. I will never listen to this Selena Gomez crap but I am amazed how far dubstep has come in so little time.
