Apparently, the pitched kick is here to stay. Pete Tong recently aired Hardwell‘s remix of Alive by Krewella. As an avid Hardwell fan I regret to say that this is among his worst productions to date. Given the emotional original mix he had to work with, his version of the song doesn’t add much but is definitely still worth a listen. The piano driven melody adds a light-hearted tone that lends itself very well to the lyrics from the original track, but the drop is very much typical of the current electro-house paradigm. This is sure to be a popular festival song amongst house DJ’s this summer, and perhaps the song will deliver more live than it will through laptop speakers, but I can’t help but be disappointed given the caliber of the remixing artist. I love it! It has a perfect vibe for an intro track. Not too much energy, but just enough to get the crowd going.
Yes, the drop is indeed not as good as Hardwell’s past works, but still, it’s a great remix. I’m definitely going to rape the repeat button when I have this track.
You’re right. It’s not the best, but I still think it’s a great remix. I love the drop. I do agree that it’ll sound a lot better live at a festival, than on your laptop or ipod. I can’t wait to hear Hardwell drop this at TomorrowWorld!
I love it.
The only thing bad about it that I can see is that the drop doesn’t really fit the track. As if it changes too much, y’dig? But aside from that, still enjoyable!
I don’t agree with the article. I’m not disappointed with this at all. In fact, since it is a bit different from his usual work, I feel as if he’s branching out and trying to grow. I rocked that shit in the shower today! Love Hardwell!
This is good, but I agree how it’s fails to push new boundaries and just sounds like everything else out there. Nothing groundbreaking here.
