CBS Radio and Astralwerks are prepared to launch She Can DJ – America, a competition pitting female DJs against each other. The show has already achieved success in Australia and Europe and will launch in the USA this July. CBS Radio stations will run local competitions in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Houston, Boston, Detroit, Phoenix, San Diego, Charlotte and Las Vegas. One finalist will be chosen from each of those 11 cities along with one “wildcard”, making for 12 total competitors.
CBS Radio is heading up the competition and is backed by Astralwerks, a label that has featured some of the top names in dance music over the years (Fatboy Slim, Swedish House Mafia, The Chemical Brothers, etc.). Astralwerks General Manager, Glenn Mendlinger, is excited to bring this competition to the USA:
“The United States is the hottest place on earth for dance music right now but the industry is largely male dominated. We’re thrilled to be a part of a program that will help discover and develop top female talent in the dance music space.”
