Daft Punk’s Get Lucky Breaks Records

Thought you were done with Daft Punk’s Get Lucky? Think again. After the recent unveiling of their collaborative work with Nile Rodgers and Pharrell Williams, the french duo Daft Punk have broken records with their new hit. To start things off, Get Lucky was number 1 on the iTunes store in over 46 countries on the day of its release! And if that wasn’t enough, it also broke the record of most streams on a single day on Spotify. The music service claimed that Get Lucky had the biggest streaming day for a single track this past Friday in the US and UK. That record was previously held by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ “Thrift Shop” in the US and Bastille’s “Pompeii” for the UK, both dethroned by the french duo’s first release in years. If the popularity of the radio edit’s release is any indication of how well their album Random Access Memories will perform, then be ready for many more shattered records on the day it’s available.

Will Hope, Director of Label relations for Spotify, had this to say on the matter:

“The robots have once again shown themselves to be true innovators, not only with their new musical direction and the stellar cast of collaborators they’re working with, but also by undertaking one of the best album campaigns we’ve seen for some time. We expect the album to become one of the biggest, if not the biggest, on Spotify this year.”

Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories will be released internationally on May 21st. Pre-order: HERE

UPDATE: Get Lucky has reached #1 in the UK. This is the first ever UK #1 for the French duo.
