inthemix

inthemix began in Sydney, Australia, but has now become a global source for all things related to electronic music and culture. In response to the popularity the music has gained in the United States recently, inthemix have announced they will be expanding their site to the U.S. as well. Traffic to their site from the US has doubled in the last half a year, and that will likely increase tenfold with the launch of the new branch. Here’s what they had to say about the expansion:

We’ve got some exciting news that we’d like to share with you.

As you’re no doubt aware, this site began from humble beginnings in Sydney over a decade ago and has grown into one of the world’s biggest and most influential dance music communities, visited by over six million unique visitors in the last year.

During the last decade we’ve watched dance music rise in popularity from the dark recesses of nightclubs to the defining global phenomenon that it is today. And we’re proud to have been at the forefront of it all.

Perhaps the biggest change to all this is that the world’s biggest music market, the U.S., has embraced the music we love at a rapid place, cementing its position as the most exciting music genre of this generation.

The numbers behind the growth are truly staggering. A recent study by EMI estimated there were now 73 million EDM fans in North America, an increase of nine million from the year before. Traffic to inthemix from the U.S. has doubled in the past six months. Even the Wall Street Journal is getting in on the act, declaring that “music’s centre of gravity is shifting again. Like rap and disco before it, the latest surge is electronic music.”

Off the back of this, we’re proud to announce that inthemix is launching in the U.S. with the aim of becoming the world’s leading community for dance music fans. As inthemix broadens its horizons, our vision will always remain the same: to unite our community behind a legitimate, trusted and influential media platform that elevates the quality of conversation around dance music.

We are committed to bringing you the best dance music content in the world. We are investing in building a global team of the top writers and photographers to add to the already established team here in Australia. inthemix content will localised to wherever you are in the world.

This means our great local writers and artists will be exposed to a bigger audience, with more opportunities to showcase our growing scene to the world. We’ll also have greater access to artists, festivals, brands and clubs to create even better content.

This is a really exciting time to see the website you’ve all helped create take its rightful place on the world stage. We look forward to providing the global dance community with a central home and an independent, credible voice. So come with us on the next step on our exciting journey, as inthemix expands from Australia to take on the world.
