Just one day prior to the kick off of Ultra Music Festival’s first weekend, there have been reports of lighting and fixtures falling off of the main stage, injuring two, one badly. At this point little is known of the incident other than that Miami Fire Rescue crews have been called to the location and that the two injured individuals are being cared for.
UPDATE: Your EDM has received the official statement from a representative at Ultra Music Festival concerning the incident that occurred today:
Statement From ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL:
Today (Thursday, March 14) as preparations were being made for this weekend’s Ultra Music Festival, a section of an LED screen fell and injured two workers. Fire Rescue was on site so there was a rapid response. Festival organizers are working with, and supporting, authorities as they investigate the details behind the accident.
Lovely..
Are you kidding me ultra? you are hosting 50-100 thousand people and this crap happens? What kind of incompetents do you hire? We paid major bucks for this event.
who the hell are you man. There under a time restraint and lots of pressure when people are under pressure they make mistakes. Under time and pressure to make your experience more enjoyable. Why don’t you stfu and think before you open your ingorant mouth you moron. They will get it fixed shit happens. I just hope that the worker who had the probablly 400lb+ led screen crash on him and is now in critical condition will be ok.
time restraints are not an excuse to fail to provide safety. that rig could have fallen on a crowd and caused a stampede. the stage crew is not there for your enjoyment. they are there for your safety. there have been far to many fatalities from collapsing stages and if construction cannot proceed in a reasonably safe manner in the allotted time frame, then the events should be canceled – and it is possible this one may be. the designer’s claims of technical advances, now seem questionable in light of this incident. sloppy work and/or design does not secure a good time. it guarantees the last time.
perhaps you are the moron, ignorant of the fact that when these kinds of things happen, it becomes increasingly more difficult to obtain permits. the price of the tickets should afford both workers and attendees a safe and enjoyable experience. these kinds of events already have a bad enough rep for drugs but when people are being hurt before the gates even open, city managers begin to think they are not worth the trouble. the only shit that will be happening is you dancing alone in your bedroom listing to an ipod. I am speaking as a professional tour promoter. there is a union that will look into this and you can be assured you will see their findings reflected in the cost of your next ticket. these things get nasty and they get political. there are specifically groups in miami looking to rid the city of these kinds of events so before you go telling people to stfu, you had better listen the f up! ”shit happens” offers very little comfort to the guy with the broken legs. but a lawsuit might make him feel much better. i wish him and all others a speedy recovery. but you see, john, it’s lawyers that happen. and because they do… (see fransisco’s comment posted above.)
If you would read more into it you would find that the stage DID NOT collapse, The led screen fell while they were hoisting it up. Please get your facts straight before you berate people with ignorance.
