For roughly the last year MS MR, the indie-pop duo comprised of Lizzy Plapinger and Max Hershenow, hence the MS and MR, have been releasing tracks that began to create noise for the group via Tumblr. While reaching a decent audience, it has become relatively clear that in the music industry Tumblr is not the most efficient manner to broadcast your work to the world. After the buzz became slightly uncanny for the release of an EP by more conventional means, MS MR constructed Candy Bar Creep Show which exuberantly showcases the duo’s unique style of despondent synth-pop. After recently having their track Bones featured in multiple prime-time TV series including the Game of Thrones Season 3 trailer, it appears as if the New York duo’s rise to stardom is in full force. However, in the wake of this recent success, MS MR has released their rendition of Copenhagen-based MØ‘s dreamy electro influenced pop tune Pilgrim. Rearranging the soundscape and structure of Pilgrim‘s original synths, MS MR‘s remix has once again reignited my excitement to see what 2013 has in store for both of these rising artists. Stream both the remix and the original below. Enjoy.
