The new year may have just begun but Firepower Records has wasted no time at all springing to the forefront of the bass music scene with multiple Beatport charting releases. Their latest release, AFK‘s Killionaire EP once again illustrates that the young label is wasting no time forging its position as a heavyweight label fueled by its arsenal of young talent. The EP features four original tracks as well as two high octane remixes of AFK‘s hit record, On The Floor, from Firepower cohort Rekoil as well as Melamin. Two of the four original tunes are collaborative records with Spenca and both display what appears to be a very cohesive and natural marriage of the two artists’ styles. Intertwining the heavy wobbles with a dash of melody and a variety of sonic composition, Go Home and Who Wants Some are stand out tracks of this bass heavy EP. Another highlight of the EP, Pinkman features a barrage of growling synths and punishing bass to create a record that is definitely not for the faint of heart. All in all, the Killionaire EP is a solid collection of heavy bass music that showcases not only the unique sound design and composition of AFK as a producer but also the expanding presence of Firepower Records, a label making strides to take over the scene one release at a time. Enjoy.
