Zeds Dead – Cowboy Remixes [Ultra]

Zeds Dead, popular Canadian bass duo, followed their Hot Sauce EP release on Mad Decent with a brand new “Cowboy” remix package on this fine Tuesday. This release, consisting of remixes from UZ, Torro Torro, Congorock, and DC Breaks was filled with a broad spectrum of genres, ranging from electro house to trap to drum and bass.

First surfacing in November after a play on UKF’s Music Podcast, UZ’s remix of “Cowboy” had me excitingly waiting for this trap masterpiece to be released. UZ has been one of the fastest rising names in the trap scene, leaving his infectious 808 snares and kicks in this remix to speak for themselves.

Toronto based duo, Torro Torro, added a great addition to this remix package with their electro house take on the song. Their signature laser synths and catchy vocal cuts really paid off here, blending into a thrilling electro remix!

Congorock, emerging producer born and bred in Italy, is currently touring the world and spreading his tropical hard electro sounds to everyone in his path. He has been gaining much popularity for his identifiable punchy, jungle-like electro sounds, and this track doesn’t stray far from his specialty. I think Congorock did an awesome job adding energy and bounce to “Cowboy” with his big room moombahton drums rolling from start to finish!

And just when I thought Zeds Dead couldn’t get any filthier with “Cowboy”, DC Breaks comes through with some huge addition to the remix package. This drum and bass duo from the UK really struck gold this time, with their dirty bass wobbles and powerful drums roaring throughout the whole track.

“Cowboy”, fueled by Omar Linx’s striking vocals and the dirty sounds of Zeds Dead, was a hard-hitting dubstep track on its own. Overall, I was very impressed at how this remix package offered such an electrifying and genre-expanding take on the original mix from Zeds Dead.
