For the last few years one thing I have always counted on to brighten up my Valentine’s Day, no matter whether I am single or taken, has been a new Luvstep mix from Dirty South Joe & Flufftronix. After tuning in for the first time a few years ago, these mixes have become a staple for me, and music-wise there is very little I anticipate more over the year than the new Luvstep mix. Back in 2011 we were lucky and were treated to a bonus Luvstep 2.5 mix in November, making this the 5th installment in the series even though it’s labeled as IV. What I love most about these mixes is the mood they create. Similar to the way an Eric Prydz mix is usually more of an overall experience than just a bunch of songs strung together, I believe the same is true for the Luvstep mixes. Any criticism of dubstep being too abrasive or “robotic” goes out the window here and what’s left is smooth, sexy beats. The track selection is impeccable, as has been the case in the previous four, and showcases some of the best in the dubstep, liquid dubstep, and lovestep genres. Without further adieu, Luvstep IV:
