Moombahton Forever (Compilation) [T&A Records] [Free Download]

Moombahton. What does it mean to you? While some have dismissed the genre as just a fad, many others have taken hold of the midtempo genre and creatively pushed the genre’s limits. If you had told Dave Nada that he would create a whole new movement just from slowing down Moombah to 108 bpm he probably would have laughed. Now, moombahton and moombahcore are staples of any well-rounded bass music sets and acts such as Nadastrom, Dillon Francis, and Sazon Booya have pushed that sound to the masses. The Moombahton Forever compilation celebrates the diverse genre, compiling 19 tracks both new and old that represent Moombahton to the fullest. I don’t know about you all, but it’s cold where I am today and these Latin-influenced beats make me feel a bit warmer. I’ve been excited for this compilation for a while now, especially after DJ Craze’s promo mix, and the final product did not disappoint. I don’t know if I could pick a favorite though, I’ll leave that up to you.

When asked about the compilation, Dave Nada of Nadastrom had the following to say:

“People always ask me, ‘So how does it feel to have invented a genre?’ and I usually tell them ‘Well, it feels good to be a part of something.’ Moombahton may have started off with me making DJ edits of slowed-down house music to sound like a weird version of reggaeton, but it took a worldwide collective to turn it into a full fledged movement. It’s been a little over three years since moombahton’s inception and I can’t even begin to describe how big the sound has grown and how far it has travelled. Moombahton has infiltrated damn near every music scene across the globe, absorbing their backgrounds and creating a vibe of its own. It still has the dembow riddim as its backbone and remains at a mid-tempo range of about 108 beats per minute – but moombahton music has grown far beyond that, and not just in sound. Over the years I’ve been able to watch moombahton bridge different worlds, transcending cultural boundaries, all in the name of the groove. Producers, DJs and music lovers alike have pushed the sound in their own way, and I’ve had the privilege of helping steer the moombah-ship in a fun and interesting direction. With the help of the genre’s innovators, T&A Records bring you Moombahton Forever. This compilation is a reflection of where the sound is today and how far it has come.
