Tommie Sunshine – Where’s The #EDM?

It is no secret that Tommie Sunshine is an absolute legend on the decks. Sheer musical genius, if you will. As of late he has taken to social media and editorials to voice his opinions on the direction of the Electronic Dance Music world. “We are at the tipping point. This is it.” Sunshine said in his editorial on the Huffington Post. He is of course referring to the rapid rise of dance music popularity and the sudden explosion into the pop culture world.

The pop culture world can be a scary one however, one where people can lose their way and forget their identity. I pray that this will not happen with our beloved producers and their music, but I am afraid it might. As Diplo said so perfectly: “if your ‘fans’ control your sound might as well just become a vending machine.. what makes u great is your vision and style. its you”. My hope for dance music production is that the drive to create new music is purely from the producers’ vision and not a product of the consumers’ desires.

Tommie Sunshine‘s new mix, “Where’s the #EDM?“, is a powerful testament to where House Music came from. It evokes the roots of the Commercial House Music we have come to simply label as “House”. I hope that people are inspired by Sunshine‘s mix to further explore the Underground House world. I encourage you to start an Electronic Music revolution. A revolution, not to popularize, but to instead explore the unknown and uncover what you have not yet heard. After all how do you think House Music became what it is today? People were simply unafraid to push the boundaries and go outside their comfort zone. Without further ado I give you Tommie Sunshine‘s “Where’s the #EDM?“. As he said so appropriately in his description of the mix: “This is House Music.”
