There’s a new man on the electro house scene, and his name is The Frederik. Hailing from Denmark, Frederik Olufsen is here to make some serious noise with his gritty, hard-hitting brand of electro. He had previously made tracks under his own name, with releases on labels like Lazy Rich’s own Big Fish Recordings. Since being signed to mega-label mau5trap though, Frederik has re-invented his sound in new alias The Frederik, unleashing a new spin on his intricate technique. His remix of Cassius’ hit The Sound of Violence was one of the real surprises of the fall, and now he’s back with a new remix of a true house anthem.
Hot Mouth’s groovy track Totally Worth It (which released off of Chris Lake’s label Rising Music) gets the remix treatment here, as Frederik adds in a deep, dirty bassline that rumbles the subs and gives the track a hell of a backbone. Frederik preserves the melodic weight of the track though as he takes the original vocals and synths, and adds to them in a momentous breakdown. The entire track is a journey through The Frederik’s fierce brand of electro, where thunderous bass rules and no speaker is safe.
The Frederik has a few more works in the pipeline, including an upcoming EP expected to be announced soon. For now though, enjoy this free download of Totally Worth It (The Frederik Remix). Look for more out of this Danish up-and-comer soon.
