Excision Announces “Live Dubstep Band” + Shambhala 2012 Mix

Canadian bass music juggernaut Excision made Halloween the best day of the year for his fans last night, releasing his long-awaited yearly Shambhala mix as well as making a HUGE surprise announcement.  Excision has teamed up with fellow Rottun Recordings giant Downlink and KJ Sawka (previously of Pendulum) to form Destroid, a “full on live dubstep band.” There’s no telling what a Destroid performance will be like, but we’re luck enough to get a taste of the trio’s new music in this year’s Shambhala mix.

The tracklist of Shambhala 2012 is way too long to name, but it’s full of Excision bangers, different genres, and even a short appearance by Rage Against the Machine. This year’s Shambhala starts off with the booming robotic voice that first shattered our ears back in 2010, but this time, not as part of an Excision track, as one of a few Destroid previews in the mix. Judging by Destroid’s first impression, this could be one of the most unique things to happen in electronic music.

The Shambhala 2012 mix, along with more info about Destroid, including the first issue of the comic book, can be found at the band’s website.
