The Prodigy’s “The Fat of the Land” is one of the most influential recordings in dance music. It was named the ninth greatest album of all time by Q Magazine in 1998, was included in Rolling Stone’s “Essential Recordings of the 90’s,” and reached platinum in six countries. To commemorate this behemoth of an album, and this milestone in the music we all love, XL Recordings is celebrating the record’s 15 year anniversary by releasing a deluxe edition of the album containing a bonus CD of “added fat” – remixes from Zed’s Dead, Alvin Risk, Noisia, and more. Our first taste of the 15-year throwback was played on Mistajam’s BBC Radio 1 show Wednesday. This is the Dutch drum and bass trio Noisia’s skullcracking remix of “The Fat of the Land”‘s controversial first track – “Smack My Bitch Up.”

Whether you’ve been with The Prodigy for over a decade or are scared and confused by the old school breakbeat banger, you have to admit – this remix is huge. We can only sit on the edge our seats and wait to see what Zed’s Dead, Alvin Risk and more bring us when the deluxe edition of “The Fat of the Land” is released on December 3rd.
