Before this week I hadn’t really heard of Surtek Collective, so when I saw that they were putting out their new Shari/Vari EP for Boys Noize Records, I did a bit of digging. Back in 2006, Chilean/German DJs Original Hamster (Vicente Sanfuentes) and Atom Heart (Uwe Schmidt) teamed up to produce a distinct electronic sound with reggaeton and cumbia influences. Since then, they’ve made a bit of a name for themselves and have evolved into something that I think is missing from the electronic scene here in the states. They bring a latin vibe that feels as though heavy electro crashed into a hard disco wall. The result is something I think you all will definitely enjoy. Keep an eye out, as the EP is set to release very soon.
