It is difficult to adequately define Flying Lotus, but one thing is true is that he is unlike any other artist out there. Constantly pushing the limit and merging different sounds, from hip pop to electronic music, Flying Lotus is modern, original and most of all different. Someone once told me his sound resembled instrumental hip pop, and to be honest I believe that sums it up pretty well for someone who might not have heard of him.
Recently a documentary that was made in partnership between Pitchfork and YouTube, was released that not only covers a short piece of Flying Lotus’ touring in the United States but also gives us insights in the life of one of the most original and yet less recognized artist of the genre. Whether you’ve never heard of him or are a huge fan, you will enjoy this little 15 minute video mini documentary, from the drugs to the crazy travel schedule, it’s definitely worth watching.
