deadmau5 Takes a Break After Revealing New Stage at Veld Festival

Internationally renowned producer deadmau5 has always been known for his extravant live shows: chock full of lights, lasers, LEDs, and unique structural pieces, deadmau5‘s stage setups have been highly lauded for their delicate intricacy and impressive visualizations. Widely considered to be one of the most sophisticated and shocking live shows in the dance music world, deadmau5‘s live presentations are easily at the top of the charts in dance music.

But all this extravagance eventually takes its toll on a weary artist. After premiering a new stage setup at Veld Music Festival in his hometown of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, deadmau5 announced through a post on tumblr that he would be taking a break from his industrious career–for an indefinite period of time. “So heres whats happening. im going to unplug for a wee bit,” the house star posted on his blog, continuing to explain himself by saying, “im just gunna slam on the breaks for a bit and force myself to endure some quiet time.”

deadmau5 has never been one to portray excellent mental health: frequent Twitter rampages–stacked high with industry criticisms, personal opinions, and general observations–provide a glimpse into a tumultuous psyche. He has even admitted to mental problems and depressive issues on Twitter via his own personal account, so it’s not entirely surprising that the stress of being one of the world’s top producers–and one of the most cutting-edge technical minds in the industry–has taken a mental toll on deadmau5.

This is far from a death knell, however: notorious for being a rampant perfectionist, deadmau5 continued his blog post, reassuringly stating that “best i … just get it done, and get it done RIGHT, until im 100% satisfied with it.” While it seems a bit disappointing that new productions and exciting tours are on hold for the time being, it seems more important that deadmau5 resolve his personal issues and lead a happy life before continuing with his illustrious career. You can check out a couple low-quality videos of the new stage setup at Veld Fest below.
